Information, Advice or Guidance
There are a range of clients that may need extra support, although it is worth
stating again that just because they may fall into a certain category, this does not
automatically mean they will need extra support. These clients could include:
• Vulnerable clients
• Clients with disabilities
• Clients with cultural or language barriers.
Clients in the above groups may well require additional support. Clients who are
vulnerable, either because of their circumstances or a lack of capacity, will have a
range of complex requirements. For example, they may well need someone with them
to help them understand the advice or information you may give.
Clients with disabilities may require assistance to attend your premises; once inside
your premises, they may require materials in different formats - such as in braille for a
blind person. Clients with cultural or language barriers may need additional support to
access your service, such as the use of interpreters for understanding their (possible)
cultural differences.
There are a range of other factors which clients may have which will require
additional support, such as:
• Time restraints
• Background knowledge and understanding of the topic.
