Information, Advice or Guidance

                     Section 3: How to support a client to plan and take action

                   This section will explore the following:

                         • Factors which influence the level of support offered to a client

                         • Situations where clients would be empowered to take action.

                     Factors which influence the level of support offered to
                     a client

                   When dealing with clients, it is important to remember that every client is different;
                   it is important not to stereotype or pre-judge a client based on previous experience.
                   Treating every client as an individual will help build respect and trust, and avoid any
                   potentially embarrassing situations.

                        !        STOP AND THINK!

                               What factors could a client have in order for them to need
                               additional support? Take a few moments to think about what
                               each means and make notes in the space below. You may
                               find it helpful to think of factors that have caused you to need
                               additional support in the past.
