Information, Advice or Guidance



                   Depending on the type of organisation and level you are working in, it is extremely
                   likely you will have your own professional code; examples include doctors, teachers
                   or the police. It is vital that you follow the code and, given the importance of
                   confidentiality, you obtain legal advice if you are unsure as to whether to disclose
                   confidential information.

                   It is best practice when dealing with clients to ensure you have a confidentiality
                   policy in place that deals with this issue. It should contain a statement explaining
                   that you have a duty to report certain situations or disclosures should it be necessary.
                   Be sure to bring this to the client’s attention should you feel the conversation is
                   heading that way.
