Introducing Caring for Children and Young People





                       R         Further Research: Development charts

                             Children’s development follows a pattern or sequence.
                             Charts are a useful way to show this sequence and the stages
                             of development. Adults working with children use development
                             charts to help them understand what stage children are at and
                             what is the next expected development stage. These charts
                             are used by professionals working with children in health and
                             children’s services.

                             They are also used to create frameworks for practitioners working
                             with children aged from birth to five. In England, this framework is
                             called the Early Years Foundation Stage. If you work with children,
                             you might want to find out more about this framework. You will
