Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties

                                  Key Fact

Made by Dyslexia is a global charity led by successful and famous
dyslexics, and its purpose is to help the world properly understand
                              and support dyslexia.

The meaning of ‘neurodiverse’ in relation to Specific
                     Learning Difficulties

The term neurodiverse relates to the brain and refers to differences in terms of the
                   way people think and behave.
The term recognises that diversity among human beings is healthy and desirable. In
a similar way, the term neurotypical is used to describe people who simply think and
behave in ways that are more similar to the majority of people in society. There is no
suggestion that the majority is better or normal.

This terminology encourages the view that differences such as SpLDs are natural
variations in the human condition. It opposes viewing them, and the people affected
by them, in a negative way.
