Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties
Dyscalculia
The most visible signs of dyscalculia include difficulties with:
• Remembering shapes and mathematical symbols
• Planning activities
• Telling the time
• Reading watches and clocks
• Mixing up similar looking numbers
• Understanding quantity
• Understanding prices
• Understanding money
• Counting backwards
• Estimating, such as when considering quantities of something or the
time it will take to complete a job.
This means that, for the individuals concerned, everyday life is affected in many
different ways.
