Information, Advice or Guidance

                       C Case Study: Employment advisor

You are working as an employment advisor in a charity paid for
by a bank. Your client is currently unhappy with their job and is
looking for some advice about new careers and is calling you on
their lunch break. You can hear lots of background noise, and it
sounds like the client may well be in the middle of a busy office.

What are the range of factors that may affect the client’s choice
and how could these impact on the client?

                                  Key Facts

                              • Clients can experience a whole range of factors which may
affect their choices, such as time pressure, advisor bias, or lack
                                of knowledge

                              • Always explain to clients their timescales for making any
                                decisions

                              • Use questioning techniques to ensure your client makes an
                                informed decision.
