Information, Advice or Guidance

Social policy is used to describe a course of action or beliefs which is applied to
various different areas within a company or governmental setting.

Social policy is normally used to improve the needs and welfare of a large group of
people. For example, the homeless, with improvements to housing, or improvements
to healthcare for those on the minimum wage. Other key areas of social policy involve
education, social security, justice and unemployment.

Social policy covers a significant range of areas that you are likely to cover on a daily
basis when providing advice, information and guidance to clients.

Social policy is something you are likely to come into contact with while working with
clients. The particular area of social policy that you might be most interested in is likely
to be the same area that you work in. For example, minimum housing standards are
likely to be extremely important for people working within a housing charity or council
                   housing department.
