                       C          Case Study: Signposting and referring


                              Think about the following scenarios and give examples of
                              signposting and referrals which would be appropriate and in
                              meeting client requirements.

                              Scenario 1

                              You are working as a learning support worker with a client who
                              has particular needs that you do not have sufficient experience or
                              knowledge of dealing with.











                              Scenario 2

                              You are working for the citizens advice charity when a client
                              approaches you and explains that they think they have a drinking
                              problem and would like some help in reducing their alcohol
                              intake.






















                   Remember: although you may need to signpost or refer a client, sometimes that
                   process can take place from within your team. For example, you may refer a client
                   to a more experienced colleague or someone with specific experience and skills in
                   a given area.
