Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties
By applying a careful diagnostic process, an individual with an SpLD can be helped to
understand much more about their condition and why they do things in the ways that
they do. The individual will develop more confidence in their abilities and will be able
to see their strengths as well as their areas of weakness. Gaps in their abilities and
learning will be identified and can be addressed in the future.
Assessment and diagnosis mean that a plan can be developed for the individual
that targets their own particular type of difficulties and puts in place the right type of
support at the right times.
